You can play with us!
Join us at Luna Vista Golf Course in Dallas for a competitive and fun-filled round as we take on the Orange Ball Challenge — a team contest that blends strategy, skill, and a touch of pressure. If you're looking for fun, fellowship, and great golf, this is your chance.

Game of the Day: Orange Ball Challenge

Each team will receive an orange ball. The object is to keep the orange ball play throughout the round while rotating its use among teammates.

How it Works:

  • Players will be grouped into foursomes.

  • Each team will be given an orange ball to begin the round.

  • One player on each hole must play the orange ball (rotate players each hole).

  • Each player must use the orange ball for a minimum of three holes.

  • You may be strategic in who plays the orange ball on each hole as long as each player plays the orange ball at least 3 holes.
  • Teams must record two separate scorecards:

    1. A standard team scorecard signed and dated for league records.

    2. An Orange Ball Challenge scorecard, with only the orange ball scores recorded and any penalties noted.  Be sure to indicate who played the orange ball on each hole by adding that players initials in the specific hole column.

Lost Ball Rules:

Each team will be give an extra orange ball.

  • If a team loses one orange ball:
→ Add one stroke to the team’s total orange ball score.
→ Note “+1 penalty” clearly at the bottom of the Orange Ball scorecard.

  • If both orange balls are lost:
→ Add two strokes to the orange ball score total.
→ Note “+2 penalty” on the scorecard.
→ Teams must still continue the format using a clearly marked substitute ball.

Reminder: Extra lost orange ball penalty strokes are only added to the Orange Ball scorecard.  The lost orange ball penalty strokes are IN ADDITION TO any penalty strokes that normally apply for losing a ball in a hazard, etc.

Prizes:

  • The winning team (lowest orange ball score + any penalties) will receive:

    • The pot from the May 3 play date

    • The pot from the May 17 play date

    • And of course… bragging rights

Entry Fee:
$1 cash per player to enter the Orange Ball Challenge.  Please bring cash/coins.

  • Please arrive at least 45 minutes before your tee time to check in and be part of the group photo before the first tee-off.

Invite a Friend:
We’d love for you to bring a guest! DFW Elite Golf League is growing, and we welcome new players — experienced and new alike.

Reminders:

  • Golf Attire: Collared shirts or golf dresses required. No jeans, leggings, or gym wear.

  • Pace of Play: We play "ready golf." Keep up with the group ahead, be prepared to hit, and limit time spent looking for lost balls.

  • Scoring Cap: Double par max per hole. If you pick up, mark with an asterisk on the scorecard.

  • Music is welcome but keep it respectful to others.

  • All putts must be holed out — no gimmies.

  • Newer players may opt to play a modified format, such as scramble or drop near best ball. Beginner groups will typically include one experienced player to assist and keep pace.

  • If you’re unsure of a rule, make your best judgment, take a photo, and ask for clarification after your round.

DFW Elite Golf League – Saturday, May 3 Play Day
Event Format: Threesome Showdown

This Saturday, the DFW Elite Golf League is back on the course for our first play date of the season.  This time, it’s all about teamwork, strategy, and showing up strong. We’re switching up the format with a fun and competitive twist we’re calling the Threesome Showdown.

How It Works

  • Each golfer will play their own ball and keep their individual score as usual.

  • Each 3-person team will also keep a separate team scorecard.

  • For each hole, the lowest individual score among the three teammates will be recorded on the team scorecard.

    Example: On Hole 5:

    • Keema scores 6, Christina scores 5, and Alena scores 4

    • The team score for that hole = 4

  • Play will continue this way through all 18 holes.

Special Notes

Please be sure that each team turns in two scorecards at the end of the round:

  1. Your official team scorecard, signed and completed by at least one team member, showing each individual’s full round; and

  2. Your Threesome Showdown Card — this card will have only one score per hole, representing the lowest score among the three players on each hole. Do not list all three scores on the showdown card. Be sure to write all three player names at the top of that card so we know whose team it is. Both cards must be submitted at the end of your round to qualify for the contest.

Entry Fee

  • $1 cash per player to enter the team contest

  • The team with the lowest combined score wins the pot — and bragging rights until next round!

Surprise Prize

One lucky golfer will also receive a small gift or prize. But how that prize will be awarded? That’s a mystery we’re keeping to ourselves until Saturday. Just be ready for anything.

Final Notes & Reminders

Please arrive 30-45 minutes early to check in, stretch, and get ready to tee off. Bring your entry fee in cash and be ready for another great day on the course with DFW’s Elite!

Attire:
Golf attire is required. Please wear a collared or other golf shirt or dress and appropriate bottoms — no jeans or gym wear. Golf shoes or soft-soled sneakers are preferred.

Pace of Play:
Keep up with the group ahead of you at all times. Be ready to hit when it’s your turn, and do not spend excessive time searching for balls. Never hit into the group in front of you. If in doubt, wait — safety comes first.

Putts Must Be Holed Out:
No “gimmes.” Every putt must be played and holed to count for scoring purposes.

If You're Unsure of a Rule:
Take a photo of the situation, make your best judgment in the moment, and note the hole on your scorecard. After your round, check in with our Director of Golf Education & Player Development, Linda Prince Johnson, for clarification and official rulings.

Playing With Beginners:
If your group includes a less experienced golfer, feel free to have them play a modified format such as “best ball” — meaning they may drop near the best tee shot or fairway shot of the group to keep the game moving and make the round more enjoyable.

Scoring Cap:
We max out each hole at double par (e.g., 6 on a par 3, 8 on a par 4, 10 on a par 5). If you hit the max and have to pick up, place an asterisk next to your score on that hole to indicate it was not played out fully.

Drinks & Snacks:
Bring water, sports drinks, and any snacks you may want during the round. Stay hydrated and energized.

Music:
Music is allowed and welcomed — just be mindful of volume. It should not be loud enough to disturb other players on your team or neighboring groups.

Photos & Videos:
We’d love to share what we’re building with DFW’s Elite! Please take lots of photos and videos during your round. If you’d like, you can send them to Keema directly at 951.454.0513 during or after the round.

Let’s play smart, have fun, and make this round one to remember.
